Sounds disgusting, right? That's exactly what I thought when my sister mentioned it to me years ago. But guess what? I was intrigued! With its low-sugar content, I was eager to dive in and give it a shot. My husband wasn't sold at first, but as time went on, we both grew to love the taste. In fact, now we find regular mousse way too sweet! Everyone has their preferences, of course, and we had fun tweaking this dessert to suit our tastes perfectly. The kids weren't fans, but our oldest at least gave it a try! It might take a little getting used to, but it's super customizable!

Ingriedients

Flesh of 2-3 ripe or over ripe Avocados

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup of melted (ot not melted ) dark chocolate chips

1/4 cup of milk of choice

sweetner of choice - I like to use honey (1/4 cup )

Optional Extras

Cream - this can be incorporated into the mixure in the blender or it can be whipped and added on top ( this is my preference!)

Stevia (for extra sweetness)

Raw cacao (as a substitute for regular cocoa . Keep it mind it may add a bit of extra bitterness)

Method

Combine all ingriendients in a blender till smoth and serve!

I personally like the choc chips to be chunky however if they are melted beforehand then will blend in to make the mousse have a smoother texture.

Conclusion

As mentioned in the introduction, this dessert took a little time for us to get used to, but now we can't imagine going back to regular mousse and enjoying it the same way! This delightful treat might appeal to older children, though younger ones might not be as captivated. It offers a rich and satisfying taste without leaving you feeling heavy afterward. Adding whipped cream is a fantastic bonus, giving it an extra touch of decadence, although it's completely optional. According to Diabetes Australia, people with diabetes can enjoy some sugar as part of a healthy, balanced diet (https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/living-with-diabetes/healthy-eating/). Let's be honest, this recipe does include sugar in the chocolate chips. You can choose to leave it out, but as many health professionals have noted, sugar isn't the ultimate villain, and we're allowed to indulge in a little sweetness every now and then!

Real CGM data post consumption of this Avocado Choc Mousse ( the one pictured). While there was a hypo in the later evening , overall glucose levels remained stable and within range. Again so many factors at play here and a healthy dinner was also consumed (leftover Tuna Pasta and veggies to be exact ) yet maintining time range appears to be adheated to in this circumstance!
